Sometimes all it takes is one whisper from God to remind you that your story isn’t over.
Yesterday, we saw Naomi at her lowest, far from home, grieving her husband and two sons, empty and alone. Everything she once held dear had slipped through her fingers. But God never leaves His children in despair. Even in Moab, He was still writing her story.
“Then she arose with her daughters in law, that she might return from the country of Moab: for she had heard… how that the Lord had visited his people in giving them bread.” (Ruth 1:6)
Hope Breaks Through
Think about that for a moment. The famine was over. The “house of bread” had bread again. She heard the news, and that simple news stirred something deep in Naomi’s weary heart. Hope, like morning light, began to break through her long night of grief.
This wasn’t just about food returning to Bethlehem. It was about God reminding Naomi of who He is: faithful, merciful, and unchanging. When we wander, He calls us back. When we’re empty, He fills us again. When we’re broken, He restores.
She Arose
Naomi’s response was simple, yet profound: she arose. She didn’t wait for perfect clarity or for every fear to disappear. That one step of obedience changed everything. Sometimes faith doesn’t look like running with strength; it looks like standing up with tears still in your eyes.
And maybe that’s where God is calling you today. He’s whispering to your heart: Arise. Arise and be free. Arise and depart. Arise and build. Arise and shine. Because your light has come, and His glory is upon you.
God hasn’t forgotten you. He’s simply preparing the next chapter of your story, and it begins when you arise.

Prayer
Lord, thank You for Your whispers of hope that find me even in my low places. Help me to hear Your voice above my fears. Give me courage to arise – to leave behind what no longer serves Your purpose in me and to walk toward Your promise. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Naomi decided it’s time to go home. Tomorrow, we’ll learn from her decision and step towards home.
